TRANSMISSION FAILURE MESSAGE = any clues ?

Hi ,
i have a 56 plate RRs HSE and recently have been getting .. "transmission failure " followed up my "hdc failure- suspension lowered" message .
if i turn the car off ,take the key out and then re-start the car the message dissappears

I have had this 3 times in the last few days .... anyone have any ideas ?

ive also suffered the dreaded "low coolant" message which seems to be another RRs issue

thanks alot as per usual

How is the battery? I believe these messages start appearing when the battery is not as fully charged as it could be, ie, colder weather Wink , or when it is old and about to fail, or if you have left something switched on too long without the engine running. The low coolant message usually means the float in the coolant bottle has absorbed coolant and sunk,(due to the excellent choice of materials by Land Rover Whistle Laughing ) giving you a false indication (unless you actually have lost coolant of course), new coolant bottle / sensor should fix that. RRS TDV8 Buck Blue (no, not now in my dreams). ..........D3 TDclankety clankV6 ............BMW 318i

Brake pedal sensor was causing it on mine. It was sending a faulty signal to everything which made the car shut everything down. Guys at lookers had it sorted asap. WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph

Sounds similar to my problems - I swapped the bulb (have had 2 blow) but problems continue and tonight I was told that my problem bulb is burning too bright. When I got home and turned off and pulled the key out, my satnav, message panel and hand brake signal all stayed on. Turned the f****ing thing on and off again a couple of times but they all stayed on until finally I only have the hand brake light still on. Have come in before I put the hammer on it!

It's going in tomorrow for the EGR valves to be cleaned because of the pulling problem but I am wondering whether it is all electrical?

The guy who followed me home said I do get black smoke when I accelerate so (apologies but I haven't searched for this) is this linked to an EGR problem?

Have had the car 3 years and no problems up until now but this is doing my head in!!! Best Wishes

Gary

Mechnaics found that one of the EGR valves was stuck open - both were full of Censored so I had them blanked off. Picked it up about an hour ago and it drives better than it has ever done! Best Wishes
