Starting problem Help!!

Tonight I took my dog to the vets. When I returned to my RRS, I got in, turned the ignition key and it wouldnt start.

It has all the signs that it is about to kick in but doesnt.

Recovery firm checked all ok and diesel is getting to the engine, it just will not start.

Has anyone had this problem before? The recovery guy said he has dealt with a few RRS before and sometimes it can be a sensor.

I hope it is only that as its out of warranty now and just cost me £900 for 2 EGR valves and a cooler!!!

the only time mine did this was when I changed the fuel filter after a warning message on the dash came on saying 'water in fuel'. I changed the filter myself and I airlocked the fuel system as i did not put fresh diesel into the new filter. Have you had a service in the last couple of days? If you see a bandwagon - it's too late.....

The EGR valves were done in May at Knutsford Land Rover dealership.

There has been nothing else done on the car since then. Infact, it has ran fine up until then. I am getting no warning lights or messages, nothing. It just didnt start on my return to the vehicle.

Update*

The dealership has told me I need a new engine and its £6000!!!

The car isnt even 5 years old and has only been motorway driven!

I have been put in touch with a engine strip and rebuil race car specialist and he believes this may not be the case. I had no engine warning lights, no smoke, no noise etc etc. I have been told they have found plastic in my sump by the dealer, but hopefully the guy I have been recommended can sort it without the need for a new engine as upon speaking to him, he seems very suspicious its a new engine thats needed.

Fingers crossed huh. merry xmas!
