First service, dealer or independent?

Hi

My RRS is rapidly approaching its first service, 18 days according to the dash. I'm looking for some comments / recommendation regarding the issue of using a dealer or an independent. I can see the advantage of an independent ie cheaper, but can i rely on them being thorough, after all it's 40 grands worth of motor, is a few quid worth saving?

I live and work in the Dewsbury / Leeds area, can anyone recommend a good independent garage or if you get good value for money, recommend a local dealer.

Thanks in advance.

Regards Andrew

It makes no odds providing that it is serviced in line with the manufacturers specifications.

The only thing I would add is that a vehicle with a non-franchised dealer history is slightly less attractive to a dealer taking the car in to stock to then retail again which would affect the value. That said, if you plan to do a high mileage, keep it for a long time or sell privately when you have finished with it then it would not be relevent.

Thank you all for your input, seems if i can find an authorised independent in my area i will be ok. I always keep my vehicles at least 3.5 - 4 years and do more than 65,000 miles so i dont think many main dealers would put that on their forecourt.

Any recommends for guys in my area (Dewsbury Leeds).

Thanks again.
