United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Ok cool. Sorry for the 20 questions Embarassed

How easy are they to change yourself? Are the bolts easily accessible?

Is there a performance gain?

Is there any difference in exhaust note?

BTW its a 2006 HSE.

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Cairns Blue

Hi
Its really a garage job to fit unless you have ramps etc, botls fiddley to get to.

slight gain in performance, slight more deep noise from the back.

when I had the cat on my TDi300 Defender fail a few years back. Removing the cat, EGR and the associated electronics made the car run more smoothly and it used less fuel. I'm not sure of the MOT regs for modern cars, but my Defender is 14 years old and at every MOT sails through the emissions test with no problems without the cat.

Tim - I had the 300TDi engine in a Discovery and blanked off the EGR valve many years ago but only recently swapped out the section of the exhaust with the cat in (because it was life expired). I found out that Landrover actually did a non-cat version of the 300Tdi for the Japanese market.

De-catting a sports car is also a very common occurance - my experience is with Lotus Exiges - and it's almost a standard modification on the S1 model and becoming more common on the S2s. Obviously it can be an issue when it comes around to MOT time and has implications for the roadworthiness/insurance of your car.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I have used 3 different MOT testing places for the MOT's in the 6 years since removal of the cat/EGR and probe and have had no problems. Also the insurance (Royal and Sun Alliance/ Land Rover Insurance) were OK about it because it was not performance enhancing. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Hello gang,

Fitted mine to my TDV6 D3.

No major performance increase, that is not really the point.

I fitted it since I go off roading in north africa often and one would not want a cat to fail in the desert !

Fitting is basic though a bit tricky as far as access, but no big deal if you have an articulated extended wrench and ramps

bonus : sound is more enjoyable, more bass still but subtle Thumbs Up and a tiny bit more grunt at very low rev.

Anyway well worth the money !
