Anyone got 295x45x20 tyres fitted - any problems ?

Would be interested to hear from anyone who has 295x45x20 tyres fitted.

The rolling diameter is larger then standard and I was wondering if anyone can tell me what speed the sat nav says compared to the speedo etc.

I have checked the calculation and the 295's are 6.3% larger than the standard but does this make any difference in the real world, especially seeing as speedo readings are not entirely accurate anyway!

All help appreciated.

I fitted Hankook Ventus 295/45-20 for the winter,Prior to fitting these tyres and using 295/40-20 Pirelli's my
speedo used to read 72/73 mph when the speed shown on my Road Angel GPS was 70mph.
Now with the Hankook 295/45-20 fitted the speedo and the Road Angel GPS both read 70mph.
The recorded speeds are the same through the range from 30mph to 90mph on both readings.
Hope this helps. SAME S**T DIFFERENT DAY

Thank you, thats exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for.

I was wondering whether I should be looking to change the tyres to the standard 275x40x20, or whether the difference would be so minimal that I could just leave well alone. On that basis it looks like all is fine and I will just revert to the manufacturers size when they need changing.

Thanks again, all comments welcomed.

Hiya Biffo, can you kindly check and confirm that your 295/45/20 arent rubbing? Have you got brembo brakes? Im considering this same upgrade against 275/45/20 mainly to get a smoother more cushioned ride...but Rupert here http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic7160.html
has horror stories about the 295/45/20...

Any comments from any one with 295/45/20 ???

Tyres have now covered 6000 miles,no rubbing issues and no signs of tyre wear.
My vehicle is fitted with Brembo Brakes as standard and there seems to be plenty of clearance on the suspension.
Furthermore the ride comfort is superb. SAME S**T DIFFERENT DAY

I was just about to chime in here with my experiences & link to the above thread. But kluklut saved me the job Thumbs Up

For further info, go to my gallery & have a look in “Rupert’s Stormer Saga” to see the comparisons in clearance between the 295/45’s & the 275/40’s

Edited to add.....Just to clarify, this was with genuine LR Stormer alloys. Apparently some of the spurious / copy alloys have a different offset, which may go towards explaining why some RRS owners are able to run the 295/45 tyre without issue.

I did query the tyre size with the dealer who confirmed that there was no issue with them rubbing etc.

All seems fine in the 5 days we've had the car!

Thanks for the help/advice though.
