Steering Wheel Change - Deal(er) or No Deal(er)?

Hi guys, i have had a search for the answer to this question and couldnt find it! so... my steering wheel is looking a little "used" and I am thinking about swapping it for a 2009 leather one, has anyone done this swap over themselves or should I just pay the dealer a few euros to do it? kind of an important part of the car to be messing around on with rusty spanners Smile

Laughing ... so am I now.. Not been able to find the link Confused

THE FOLLOWING IS ALL FROM MEMORY!

Disconnect your battery and go have a cuppa.. leave for 15mins or more...

Then get a coat hanger in to it as per Wiggs youtube video:
Disconnect wires from bag and then undo the nut in the center of wheel and remove steering wheel and fit your new one in the same position.. if you look it does have a small arrow on the end of the steering shaft to make it easy for re-fitting Wink

Tighten the center nut and then reconnect the Air bag/steering wires and then just push in the wheel center............. Reconnect battery and you've done Thumbs Up Cheers Paul

Thanks for the youTube link, looks pretty straight forward. Waiting for the wheel to arrive and will definately give it a go, i guess the cuppa for 15 mins is to disarm the airbag ? will post some pics during and after the job.

No it doesnt Jon, I have a 2010 wheel here that I bought for mine. The fitment is fine but even though the connectors on the wires are the same, the buttons dont do the correct job Big Cry

I took mine to an auto spark to see if the wires could be changed around to suit but I was told not.

Anybody looking for a cheap 2010 leather wheel??

Good link, very helpful. Thanks rrs2010.

The install was very straight forward after the airbag was removed without exploding! the buttons swap over was only 4 torx screws. What a difference it makes to driving, the wheel actually feels like it should have when it came out of the factory, highly recommended to all with the slippery steering wheel!

Thanks to all for your tips and advice. Thumbs Up
