Fitting 22 x 11 rear wheels 295/30 tyres

Hi i have been offered a set of wheels 22 x 9.5 front 265/40 tyres and 22 x 11 Rear 295/30 Tyres. Does anyone know if these will fit the car ok? I'm told they were on a Range Rover before but not a sport. Any ideas? Just fancy a change to the std wheels. when i fit these I will get the std wheels refurbed and if i don't get on with them can always put the std wheels back on. Just not sure if they will fit. Thanks

Hard to guess on aftermarket wheels... What's the offset of each rim?

Be careful with staggered setups, you can really mess up the car. FYI, Cargraphic (one of the few reputable aftermarket tuners providing tested staggered setups for Land Rovers) offers 9.5x22 with 265/35 front and 11x22 with 305/30 rear, specifically for the Sport but only those w/o Brembo brakes. Despite the size, those rims won't fit a S/C.

I would think that you would get some serious transmission windup in the 4x4 system trying that too. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

During my bling period... I ran a staggered setup from Cargraphic (21" though, not 22s) on my RRS for over a year with no issues whatsoever. But you need to do the math carefully on overall rolling circumference, etc, otherwise you will indeed screw up the tranny and a lot of other stuff.

Thanks for the input and info guys, so here's an update on what I have found out. The tyre sizes I gave at first were a little out.

The front wheels are 9 x 22 with 265/35 22 tyres

The rear wheels are 11 x 22 with 295/30 22 tyres

Using these tyre sizes, I looked up rolling radius for each tyre size (yes I'm fast becoming a tyre nerd!).
I found a difference of 4mm in Static Rolling Radius (distance from the center of wheel to the ground). Meaning the Tyre rolling circumference is different front to back over all by 26mm.

In English this means the rears will turn 26mm more to keep up with one rotation on the front. This could be deemed to sound a lot at first. But I'm thinking this is not much if you had the standard wheels/tyres and you replaced a pair of tyres on front for new ones and the rears were well worn. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) it would work out about the same difference front to back as the wheels and tyres I'm looking at? I'm sure someone will say when replacing a tyre on a 4x4 you should replace all four at the same time. But who really does?

Anyway am I now smart enough to apply for a job at Kwick fit? Or am I (and the tyres) miles out?

Also I understand the reason that Cargraphic don't fit the wheels to cars with Brembo brakes is because the spokes don't clear the brake calipers?

One thing though which I have yet to find info on is the difference it makes on the width of rim you are fitting a tyre to. The calculations above for SRR and TYC are worked out on tyre size alone. But surely the width of wheel they are going on will make a difference to the sidewall height. Because if the wheel is narrower the tyre will then therefore stand up more…right? Same as in if the wheel was wider would the tyres not then stretch out more sideways making the sidewalls lower? If this is the case my tyres should be closer to the same rolling Radius front to back. A quick and but admittedly rough measurement around the tyre mounted to the rim shows exactly the same size rolling diameter.

Also.... I just noticed, if you stand these wheels with the tyres mounted on them up and put them side by side they look exactly the same height. I know I need to check I have a completely level floor and to use a straight edge with spirit level to check this exactly, but I really think I'm being sad enough as it is! Anyway no way are they 8mm out from front to rear. Also I measured from the floor to a line on the top of the tyre on both front and rear wheels and the distance was exactly the same. And I mean spot on 71mm. Also I'm told these wheels with the tyre size mentioned, were worked out and produced just for the Disco 3, FFRR and RRS. So I think I'm good. Apart from the rears having more grip due to the extra width I think they may just work out fine. Any thoughts???

Hmm, it needs expert opinion really, which I can't give but maybe one of our appropriate sponsors such as AJS maybe able to? Worth giving them a ring and explaining what it is you are trying to do?

As for changing all 4 tyres at once, that's not necessary but you should look at changing tyres across axles at once.

here is a site worth looking at if you are contemplating changing wheel sizes

has calculators to allow for various combinations, offsets etc and will show effects on speedo and overall widths and clearances etc
