United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red
new battery went dead after a week

had a new battery fitted after the dash lit up and errors comming every second ,i took it to the dealers and they fitted a new battery ,all it seemed was well

but driving home i noticed the low battery mode on stereo was coming on and this was with the car running also the seats wouldnt heat ,spoke to dealer he said the systems are saving power(maybe its a new carbon offsett)

he said hed call back and didnt
anyhow a week later and it was flat again

its in the dealers agian trying to find whats up he says it may be a alternator (at 50k miles) but they not sure and it was friday so no luck till next week (no stock of alternator and battery)

any ideas as warranty run out and i run toyota hiluxes for work i sell them after 5 years usually with 200k plus and apart from servicing they are normaly faultless and they arnt driven well

last alternator i replaced was on a montego in my youth 20 years ago am i going backwards

for

Good dealer then Whistle why didn't they check the alternator when it was there the 1st time? I agree, 50k out of an alternator is utter crap, and that is just what Land Rover are building. well i was told not to buy one and to be fair i love the car but 50k out of a alternator is crappy ,we will see next week ,
they said they checked alternator with new battery ,cant see that

im using the wifes 335i 08 convertable at moment and even though i hate to say this the rangeys nowhere on the quality .

pity because it nearly is a great car ,just never on the drive these days

ill give it and dealer another chance ,watch this space

Running duff (non charging)alternators on these cars quite often kills the battery also, so you may find that due to their incompetence, they have stuffed the new battery for you as well. Shocked RRS TDV8 Buck Blue (no, not now in my dreams). ..........D3 TDclankety clankV6 ............BMW 318i

new alternator fitted and touch wood all seems to be ok now no problems ,although you may think the original battery went dead due to the duff alternator the regulators on them go out i was told

they did say they checked it first time,

lets hope all is well

54000 miles new alternator ??????????? on a £50 grand car

yes you could be right im sure the alternator is made by someone else maybe bosch that i dont know

and maybe i just had a dud un ,dont know if its common on the rrs

the alternator was about £150 so i dont think it was excessive and the dealer didnt screw me on the labour

so maybe im a minority ,hope so because i do love the motor and i wouldnt know what to buy in its place

is there an option.
