That's exactly the problem - but there's very little on the market in terms of equivalent bang for the buck. You can pick one up for low 20s Thumbs Up

The S5 does still have the "old" 4.2 VB that used to be in the old S4, RS4, etc.... Audi have now replaced it in the portfolio with the 3.0 V6 supercharged engine. Same performance, but greener - I presume the next S5 willl also have it Very Happy

Darn - I test drove the V8 and it was worth the money for the growl.

Looking at finance it seems interest rates are working against me quite badly at the moment so I may have to sit tight for a while. I usually lease but leasing prices seem to have shot through the roof. Even to lease an equivalent RRS to mine (new in Jan this year) I'm looking at £200/month hike in price! WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award

Yeah I think the S5 is now sporting the new 3l V6 TSFSI (or however they badge it), once remapped it should give decent economy (well decent for a 435bhp car that is) and performance should be more than respectable.

With regards to the Vauxhall, all I can say is go and drive it - there are now several converts over on Tyresmoke, all thoroughly enjoying the the budget price supercar. I mean even brand new if you knwo anyone who works for Vauxhall you can get £9k of the list price so a brand new Bathhurst edition would cost £28k

Thanks mate. I'll take a look but its because I use the car for business I have to retain some semblance of adherance to the company car policy my employer operates Smile

Shocked Surprised you've not suggested the S3 Angel. Shocked

I know you've not actually driven one but I'm sure the experience of the 1.6 A3 has given you a good insight into their quality. Thumbs Up Bow down Thumbs Up Bow down Current: I can't say...Oh the Shame!

S3 is ok, but unless they release a version with the 2.5T the TT has it'll still be a bit lacking, although saying that a dealer just down the road from Cardiff Bentley has a Suzuka Grey S3 with 370bhp for sale......

While I remember how about A Nissan GT-R Cardiff BEntley had one there, didnt look too bad.

As much as I love Astons and Bentleys I just can't justify spending £50k on a four year old car on my meagre income! Plus - I would like a car that bears some semblance to reliability and in my experience that brings me full circle to BMW again.

I am seeing very little that actually captivates me at the moment. When did the mid range (imo) choice of cars become so mundane.

At present the list comprises another RRS, Cayman S or even the TT RS which looked ok. The Alpina suggestion is not bad either.

I love the Nissan GTR but I fear that particular car style carries a certain stigman and Chester isn't quite equipped with roads that can cope with "Toky Drift" style driving. Mind you that doesn't stop some of the locals trying it out in their 1.2 Vauxhall Corsa's with noisy exhausts and a boot full of bass. Ah classy! WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award
