United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver
Anyone know how to reset the service indicator on a TDV6?

Is this a dealer visit or can it be done at home?

Thanks,

As far as I'm aware this can only be done with the right equipment so yes a dealer visit. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Must be able to be done at home.
- that is a European Directive on servicing.

But chuff knows how.

Now I'm risking the wrath of VA by going against his advice..... Neutral 2022 P440e AB

Really? Got reference as to where that is incorporated into UK law? LR have the ability to alter the service indicator by market so it is possible to specify it enabled or not but AFAIK it can only be reset by diagnostics.... Cheers

Hmm. Now that you ask. This was all I could find...

So, this is when it came into law...
http://www.berr.gov.uk/whatwedo/consumers/...38070.html

But does it mean that it can be reset without the right kit.....
Still googling.... Thumbs Up 2022 P440e AB

The only relevant piece I can see in that extract is "independent garages and roadside assistance organisations will have much greater access to technical information, including diagnostic equipment and software."

Which means access to the required equipment and software, can´t see anything that makes the service indicator driver-resettable???? Cheers

Found this for full fat range rovers.

http://www.rangerovers.net/forum/viewtopic...19#p202199

Might work on the RRS....

My logic, and I must have read this somewhere, is that the European Block Exemption allows non frachised dealers to do servicing and not break new car warranties (although it can extended warranties (just ask Porsche).

Anyway...

For non franchised dealers to do the work, they must have a manual way of resetting the service indicator. Or so I thought..... 2022 P440e AB

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

On a Series 1 Land Rover, the service indicator reset required the following.

Land Rover special part number LR 17665 (this can be bought at B&Q and is known as a hammer)

Land Rover special part number LR 17666 (also can be bought at B&Q and is known as a chisel)

The instructions are to place part number 17666's sharp end on top of any part of your Land Rover which isn't working (which can be very widely interpreted to include anything that isn't doing exactly what you want it to do, including service indicators or even passengers)

Then take part number 17665 and apply it sharply and heavily to the large blunt end of part number 17666

Reapply as necessary.

This will solve most of the Land Rover's issues. In the case of the RRS, I am pretty sure the service indicator will never bother you again.

I'll try it later and report back ..... Thumbs Up RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
