The article talks of sales up to June 08

I have a vested interest in buying a late model S/H RRS and have been tracking the market since about then

My experience suggests that prices only really crashed over the summer

The Q3 and Q4 figures for 2008 will be of more relevance

You only need cast your minds back a month or two to recall the pain experienced by a couple of forumers here selling their RRS's

Cheers

Theo (still looking and still seeing prices falling)

Used sales have been very strong with October being our best month for almost 2 years. Obviously I put it down to being competitive and looking after people well. Whistle

We were down to 7 used vehicles by the end of Oct, hence my request in the For Sale / Wanted section. The important thing for dealers to remember is not to be greedy, prepare vehicles properly and give a good service to earn referral and repeat business.

Any chance you could be cloned and employed by my local dealer?

Cloned not possible, employed perhaps!

To many business are trying to make more money from less sales to remain in their previous position, however for cashflow, depreciation and risk it is far better to sell more for less, and hope that some of those who bought buy again and tell their acquaintances to do likewise!

Interesting. Would be nice to see that positive figure sustained for Jun 08>, lest us wait and see.

It would certainly be a nice slap in the face for this half a$$ed govt who lets face it are 100% behind screwing each and every one of us motorists. The incompetence is stunning and yet we keep on voting for the big 3, who lets face it, are all basically the same - S Censored T.

Not a Morrisey fan, but one of his songs sums things up quite nicely Thumbs Up

June, Q3 and Oct saw increases in used sales at Park Royal and Battersea over last year, therfore on the assumption that other bands in London had the same fortune then the stats should make pleasing reading.

Dont for get that there are lies, damned lies and statistics Smile

I could possibly interpret the extra used sales another way.

People like me have been looking to buy S/H but have been put off by the good residuals previously on RRS's and so have actually bought new instead

Now that prices have softened then even though I can buy a TDV8 outright Id have to be utterly stupid and so am looking cautiously at an 08 plate for a whole heap less

The difficulty naturally is buying near the trough, Ive been looking a while and its still a toughie to call however the earier thread started on this site does nothing to make me want to kick any more tyres till Christmas

Cheers!

I've just had December's Glass's Guide and the drop between Nov/Dec is approx 1/3 of the drop between Oct/Nov, therfore this could be a sign of values starting to level out. You are absoloutly spot on, values will drop (they always do), and I'm sure something will surface that looks good value, and fits the bill.... it's just a case of waiting for that vehicle to arrive. In previous posts you have laid down your expectations of where values need to be (which I have noted), and on that basis of that there will be a PM on it's way the moment something 'fitting' becomes available.

You sneaky so and so Smile

Of course you realise that as and when something comes up that I figure is reasonable in price I will have no excuse not to visit the MIL who lives 1.5 miles down the Westway from you

So the deal will have to be spectacular Rolling with laughter
