United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Suspension failure

Set off from Dunfermline at 4.00pm this afternoon hoping to be home for about 9.15,got to Coldstream when the suspension fail warning light came on in the middle of nowhere, came on intermittently changing from orange to red and occasionally going off all the way home to Sheffield, just got in,at times it was like riding a kangaroo.
Not much fun navigating the A1/M1 junction just below Leeds at 30mph Evil or Very Mad
I kept pulling over when safe and after ignition off/back on seemed to be fine for about 1/2 mile before problem re-occurred.
Booked a LR Assist visit for 1st thing in the morning.
Anyone had this before? MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Just got it back seems the height sensor was faulty and was false sensing and trying to raise the suspension which was conflicting with the +30mph sensor which was trying to force it back down, hence the compressor and valves were working full time and overheating.New height sensor fitted and now working OK again.
Good job it happened in a way because they also found a split steering gaiter which may explain why the steering was stiff on start up which wasn't noticed when it was serviced recently, just told me they topped the hydraulic fluid up and it was working normally and nothing to worry about !!
It will be interesting how it feels from cold in the morning.

I've decided LR make them deliberately un-reliable so that you can appreciate how brilliant they are when you get it back, having spent 4 days in a Vauxhall Zafira my permagrin is back in place BUT for how long Rolling Eyes MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

You should have called in for coffee, I live near that joy of a road Evil or Very Mad

Been there doing 50mph with the caravan in tow is bad enough, but at 30mph it must have been a nightmare Shocked

Good to know it was just a faulty sensor however, LR has introduced new improved height sensors..

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Same happened to me 5 months from new.
The ride was extremely bouncy on the 2-3 mile crawl home. When I initially pulled over and drove up the curb the car bottomed out!

LR assist initially diagnosed it as a compressor failure, which wasn't good news as they had been on back order or some time... Shipped it off on a low-loader and it returned the next day with just a faulty sensor replaced.

Mines a 57 plate, Built in Dec 07, so should mine have had the new sensors? Should I badger my local dealer for the new type sensors to avoid it happening again?

I've got a RRS HSE TDV8 (MY08) and this has just happened to me (last night) currently RR-less as car on a low loader being taken to the garage later this morning, LandRover assist has arranged for a Disco to be brought over some time this morning. Hope it's not going to be a recurring problem Sad as I have been really impressed with the RRS (other than the many time it's seemed to prefer the company of the local dealer than being the workhorse I expected!)

dealer had to replace all 4 sensors, good news was they were in stock and got the car back the next day....downloaded the release from the link in this thread and it seems that there's a problem. One question, anyone know why they had to do a 22 mile roadtest? Seems a long way.
