I've just clocked up 1700 miles and have started to notice the engine noise increasing slightly. Whereas before it was silent in the cabin, I can now hear the diesel rattle under acceleration.

The engine noise is distinctly louder outside the car.

Must admit though, the engine has definitely loosened up, acceleration is very brisk and fuel consumption has improved by 2mpg. Currently 24.5mpg according to computer.

The learning ECU has definitely matched my driving style now, 'heavy right foot'
At first it used to trickle away and then accelerate, now it's ready to go immediately and picks up very fast.

Anyone else noticed a noise increase ? Rob Lane

Must say I had thought this myself, not only with mine but also with the two Disco3 we have in the company.
I put it down to the engine loosening up as time goes by. It is still quiter and smoother than my previous X5 BMW though. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Interested in your thoughts on the BMW X5 compared to the RRS - obviously we are all biased towards RRS here, but would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the comparisons..

Mine has also got noisier. More worrying is a slight "rattle" from the engine heard when I come off acceleration and coast.
