Comprehensively trashed the 20" Conti on the RRS today. Punctured at about 40mph on a very windy road, and only reason I noticed was it started pulling to the right (front, driver's side). Had to drive about 250 yards to find a safe place to pull over, by which time the tyre was completely wasted with a tear all the way around the rim on outer side and most way around on inner side.

Changed the wheel in 20 minutes but was surprised to see that the full size spare (black alloy wheel) has a 50mph sticker on it. The tyre looks like its a full on piece of rubber - so why the speed restriction ? The drive back over Hartside Pass went uneventually and at well over 50mph without any upset. Actually handled quite well.

So those winter tyres finally get refitted again this evening (just in time for the ice to melt). RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
