Australia 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Chawton White
Hema Navigator

I'm looking at getting an aftermarket Sat Nav unit for the RRS and was wondering if the following is a good alternative to a Tom Tom for street navigation. I would like the off road navigation function which is also included, but not if the on road side of the unit is not as good as the peers in the market as this is where it will get most use?

Australia 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver

Hi 2nd Rower, some of the bods on the Australian 4wd forum seem to swear by the XL 488 Logicgear. With some frigging and no doubt some asking on the site you could also get help to install the hema off road maps as well

Afraid i do not venture that far off road that i need a different system to the tomtom i am using at the moment.

Cheers

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

Some of the guys over on the Freel2 forums have been doing DIY Satnav installs to their cars, here is the latest budget system installed by one member using Sony kit. http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic2528.html
There are other instals of Kenwood and TomTom as well. When you see the ease with which these can be done you wonder why it costs so much to have a factory installed system. What is really useful with these home installs is that you can remove the system easily for plugging into a PC and updating. I would really like to install my electronic UK Ordinace Survey map system into the car's system - I have Navman and OS together on an HP iPac PDA in my Defender and it is a much more sophisticated set-up for a lot less money than the LR system in my RRS! Only problem is the small size of the PDA screen A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Tata TDv8 HSE - Stornoway/ebony and straight grain walnut with towpack, Tasmods and an HST grille. Coming soon LEDs in the headlights
Staying - Epsom Green Defender 90 for playing off road
