2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver
Depreciation

I've read a bit about this mainly in the sales section. Here's my story, less than 2 month ago I parted with £28,000 for a 2005 RRS HSE with 56K on the clock. I was also raped by being given £5k for my previous 21K motor. So you could say I paid £30l for the RRS.
I'm now seeing 2006 HSE's go for £22,000.
What is going on? Have I really lossed 10k in 2 month? Big Cry Big Cry

It's called "financial uncertainty" I believe - nobody wants big 4x4's at the moment but just wait until we have a cold snap and a few inches of snow............................ everybody will be looking for 4x4's again for the rest of the winter 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

My dealer reckons that LR prices are falling by around 5% a month and "The Book" is way behind where the real values have fallen to. Tells me they had a RRS Supercharged in an auction recently and there were no bids at all on the vehicle, even at the starting level of £16k.

You have to take the view that you ain't lost any money on your car, your house or your HBOS shares until the point at which you sell them. And even then, if you are going to buy another car, house or shareholding, the only real money you have lost is the difference between how the sold asset and the bought asset have depreciated during your period of ownership.

Just imagine, this positive thinking technique could catch on and then we could have another BOOM ! RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

'Raped' is a bit strong and does you no favours

Objectively prices of big cars in band G for VED/emmissions are in free fall

I actually am looking to buy and have looked at this market in detail for the last few months

The whole thing is just plain scary at the moment

Im lucky enough to keep my cars for 8-10 years and now is a natural time for me to change

The thing is I cant see prices levelling off soon so Im waiting a little longer

My target car is a V8 diesel RRS or Q7
I dont mind which I just want a bargain and Im happy to wait

Cheers
