I have purchased a 2006 RR Sport and the Range Rover badge across the lower part of the tail gate is missing and looks as though it never has been on ? The Land Rover badge is there but not the long 'Range Rover' wording !

Any ideas ? Were certain models left without the wording ?

Its certianly puzzled me as every other one I look at seems to have it !!

i think i read that HST models don't have the lettering, does yours have the bodykit?

Any accident history on the RRS to account for itpossibly missing? pics may help - oh and welcome to the forum !

It does actually have all the Suerpcharge grills, badges, 22" wheels etc on all from new so presume it was due to that and was is a diesel / wannabe HST lookalike.

I did see one in the local Land Rover garage very very similar but to be honest I didn't take note of the model but just noticed the Range Rover missing. and the placement where the lettering is missing is the same colour as the body and not a different shade like on most.

With regards to Insurance, its all clear no work and well looked after by a company exec. (Fingers crossed !!)

As NP says if it has the HST bodykit then those cars didn't get the Range Rover along the bottom edge of the tailgate. As a 2006 car it could well have had the HST body kit installed "aftermarket" by a dealership. The story of HST RRS's is a bit convoluted
It was launched as a factory order only for 2007MY in 2006 but there was a low uptake,
Then LR made the kit a dealer fit accessory kit...................... some dealers didn't put them on very well and others sold the desirable bits on eBay so
For in 2007 for 2008MY HST returned to being a factory order only with the parts put on while the car goes down the production line (originally I think they were taken off the line and sent to the Special Vehicles section at the factory where Autobiography FFRR's and armoured Land Rovers/Range Rovers and Disco3's are built).
Originally it was only available in 4 colours - Java, Silver, Rimini and Cairns but I believe now you can have one in any of the colours in the brochure.

Originally you could also only have a TDV6 or Supercharged HST, now you can have either a TDv8 or Supercharged
HST but not a TDV6......................... all that in 2 years!

Of course the previous owner may just have peeled the lettering off, it's only held on with strong adhesive that you can remove easily with a bit of heat and some thin fishing line or dental floss................. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Jonnylp, the previous owner must have had the trim colour coded and simply not bothered replacing the lettering as this can be costly not to mention hard to replace the original letters with correct spacing and straight.  Java Black TDV6 HSE - Java Grandes Marques 1/18 - Ducati 749s
