Can I purchase Leather Door Inserts and Hockey Sticks?

This is my first post. I joined this site a few days ago as I was considering upgradng from my 07 Black FL2 HSE to a 07 Stornoway RRS HSE. After checkin a few of your posts, I have decided to purchase the RRS.

I have one question. I am delighted to say that the interior is Alpaca Premium Leather, but, and this is the thing. It has light wood, which I am not keen on. I asked the dealer to change the Hockey Sticks to Pixel and the Inserts to Leather, but he said it's immpossible to purchase Leather inserts.

I've gone for Zebrano, with Alpaca. I am delighted with this and am glad I made this choice!!!

I'll pop the pics on as soon as I can! 07 RRS, HSE, STORNOWAY, 20 INCH ALLOYS, ALPACA PREMIUM LEATHER, ZEBRANO TRIM - ADDED EXTRA - CLASS!

The hockey sticks can easily be changed, but I don't believe the door cards can be replaced with leather ones. One of the boundaries between the RRS and the FFRR Wink

I may be smoking stuff but I'm pretty sure my door inserts are leather..or at least faux leather.. I don't look at them that often but they aren't wood! Exclamation Question

If he's got cherry wood inserts, he'll have the same on the doors (i.e. where the door opening handle is).

But if mine are leather as i believe, then surely they must be purchasable as a replacement?

I suppose.... I thought that part of the door was always matching with whatever hockey stick trim you had chosen. I think there's a "premium leather pack" that you can get on MY09 where the door inserts are leather though, so I presume that you might be able to coerce a dealer to fit these if they are available as a spare part Confused

Okay will look when I leave the office in 20 mins and get photos if they are leather..

My hockey sticks are a metallic silver colour.. This is an Aussie Spec 2008 model, and they all came like this as standard spec. Any of the wood options were a $ cost extra.

I remember long ago in the early days of the forums somebody tried to change the door cards because they wanted wood and not leather but there was a problem but I cannot remember what it was - try a search in the archives. If it means a huge amount to your driving pleasure then go can get the dealer to buy a set of Overfinch
door cards that will have genuine leather in any style/colour you want,

Regarding the hockey sticks/boomerangs on the centre console they are not available in the Freelander2's Pixel pattern - you can have any of several wood-a-likes or Rhodium or Blenheim - Rhodium is the same as the vent surrounds - again Overfinch can supply your dealer with the bits.
Overfinch's brochure can be downloaded in pdf format from here
http://www.overfinch.co.uk/www/files/RangeRoverSport.pd

BTW RRS-Edi, if you really want an all black interior and the leather isn't possible there is a Black Lined oak kit 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Ok from what i know/ have seen.

All the WOOD equipped cars have wood on the doors to match. ie cherry or zebrano. The rhodium/brunel have that part of the door covered in matching leather/faux.

You cant fit that leather piece onto the wood door cards or vice versa their a different shape or size.

Your only option is contact a professional retrimming firm. They will happily (and pretty easily) be able to remove the door cards and hockey sticks and retrim them with leather or whatever you would like. It will probably work out cheaper than all other options (including going to overfinch who will do the same thing and charge you a premium im assuming).

Another option to overfinch is http://www.reverelondon.com/pricelists/range_rover_sport.htm. They do a piano black interior replacement. Also carbon fibre and a quick read thru the list shows leather hockey sticks. Again all with a nice premium to what youd pay a good retrimmer (or bodyshop to spray your interior trim piano black). Vemiri offered to spray mine when i bought it. I like the zebrano now so didnt take them up on their offer.

I have brunel finish on the hockey stick AND leather on the door cards. Its currently a choice offered with the premium leather option in France.

I don't understand the problem of your dealer.

In the latest brochure it shows black or ivory diagonal stitch inserts as standard on S and S/C models and optional on SE/HSE and HST - these get wood-a-like as standard on the door cards and leather is a no cost option factory order.

Maybe TB can tell us but I am pretty sure that the entire door card has to be changed - something to do with the airbag in the door and the way they come out in an emergency IIRC 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
