Factory-fit PTI vs After-Sale PTI

Hi all,

I know this subject seems to have been done to death but cut a newbie some slack....

Can someone tell me what the difference is between the factory-fit PTI and the after-sales PTI - I don't mean in terms of operational limitations but when you get the after-sales parts, what do you get black-box-wise?

I've been having a look on the LR GTR site and it seems, from the module diagrams, the factory-fit all hinges around the Phone Module hidden behind the boot side-panel. The rest of the factory-fit is just a mic and the existing IHU, AMP etc.

Does the after-sales use the same install location/wiring etc and would it be feasable to pop an after-sales PM and replace it with a new PM (with the bluetooth upgrade etc) direct from LR Parts? - In other words, can I get the bluetooth to work, transfer phone book etc?

Does this make sense or should I just go back to using my window-mount phone cradle/hands-free kit and wire the power permanently from a switched feed under the dash?

Cheers,

'tang.

I don't think it was ever possible to retrofit the factory PTI in a financially viable fashion. Some dealers would plain refuse to do it anyway - I don't think it's the same wiring loom.

One word though... Parrot Whistle
