Next outing in the Lochgilhead Forest is on the cards for Jan26/27 as usual a two choice drive. One for nicer vehicles and we will take special note if any Rather smart Rangey's arrive
The second option is for the more adventurous and is a fairly demanding drive
We are being honoured with the presence of the local rag so shiny shoes hair slicked back and please curb the blasphemy
Anyone wishing details of any kind drop me a line here on the site and I will be pleased to give information of any kind. You can join our weekend for one day or two and if interest is shown we will run a night drive on Sat evening 8.30 untill approx 11.00. This is a pretty scary drive as it is usually dark
Cost for the drive is £25.00 per day or £35.00 for full weekend regardless of occupants.

[The long coast down the hill to Loch Fyne. Look out for the wild Palm trees on the banks of Loch Fyne too, The long coast downhill can be a trecherous one, A chappie driving a Vectra lost control just at the waterfall , he veered down the bank and after about 1000yards stopped just at the edge of the drop into the river . I know this as we were returning from our drive and saw the commotion with breakdown truck and about a dozen cars backed up on the road. So one of our team volunteered to drive down and try to reach the vehicle So with a skillfull bit of driving on a fairly demanding hillside he drove to within 200 feet of the car. He winched the car enough to let the truck winch take over. The truck pulled the car to terra firma and our man made easy work of getting back up under his own steam . The gathered crown were clearly in great respect of this generous gesture and applauded the Landy back to tarmac. We asked where the driver was and the truck driver said he's having a drink and declined to come with the recovery truck. We have withheld the LANDY 90 drivers Name as his head was big enough after all his adoring fans were just short of asking for his autograph bleedin showoff

Ouch! Know where you are talking about. The road has been well improved sincce the time I first started going there, it was single track and a switchback all the way down.
My father owned a garage in Bonhill up to the 70s, Tarbert was about as far north as we went for tow ins. We did have one Bedford 4x4 truck with a winch off the PTO, it had about 100yards of 1.5" wire rope on it, pulled many a car out a field without getting our tyres dirty The tyres on it were 1600 x 20" dunlop track grip  Sons of dogs come eat flesh
