Anybody fancy a holiday a long way ooop north?

I have always wanted to go to Iceland for a holiday after I worked there for a year. I had planned to go there last year but due to me changing ships it didn't happen.
If you watch these videos you'll get an idea of how much fun it would be! Apart from no RRSports in evidence see if you notice what else there is a distinct lack of................................

You need to plan on at least 3 weeks to a month off work and the round trip ferry fare from Scotland is in excess of a £1000..................... DSL did it a couple of years ago in a Defender, but if D3's and Freelander1's can cope then why not a few RRS's. One thing - you have to be prepared to do a bit of camping as hotels and B&B's are not exactly 10 a penny in the outback of Iceland. Much more fun than following all those D3's down to Morocco..............................

The missing bits are - no rain, no trees and not a vast amount of sunshine......................... A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Of course you could tell her that you are taking her to the desert as Iceland has it's own one in the SE of the island, you just happen not to mention that it isn't a hot and sunny desert - actually Iceland is often warmer than the UK as it is more in the Gulf Stream than us and it can be relatively warm there in the summer but hardly the Costas or the Balearic Islands................................ A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.
