Broadband grumbles...

..not sure if I mentiond this already but I am seriously hacked off with broadband over here!

I have upgraded CYTA Business which consists of a mighty 2Mb connection!

Connection charge CYP£180 (c. GBP£225)

Monthly charge CYP£145 (GBP£182)

And I only get 1.75Mb as the final insult!

Anyone better that? Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Broadband is never an exact science.... there are so many variables going to make your "actual speed". This is why they all now say "up to 8Mb" and not just "8Mb". Watchdog was complaining a few weeks ago that someone was paying for 8Mb and only getting half that.... no ISP will guarantee you bandwidth on ADSL.

Super, for you to get 1.75Mb out of your quoted 2Mb is actually not bad - although that's not what you wanted me to say Laughing

Thumbs Up

That's probably as high as you'll ever see it, if you only have a 2Mb connection.

I generally get about 6.5Mb out of my 8Mb.....

Amazing that technology has got this far isn't it VA! In many places up here you cannot get online at all, in the Highlands the Scottish Parliament is trying to get folks good enough phone lines to even get dialup yet if you go out to the islands off the west coast they all have superfast high speed connections and they don't even have to pay for them, it's all free as part of an incentive drive for people to start up internet based companies. The last lot in power in Edinburgh were very good at that sort of thing, but were hopeless at running a country. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

from memory BT are only legally obliged to supply 400kb/s (or around this figure) over their network - all performance better than this is just a bonus
