The pics represent exactly what it is. I would not suggest to remove the rails but do remove the bars is very easy and take 1min if two people are doing it, maybe 3 mins if you are alone... Thanks for the quick replies folks. I must admit I've decided not to bother with the rails. I figure I should have enough space inside for skis as and when i head off to use them and I think the rails do very slightly upset the look of the car.

I put on the roof rails after getting my car, I dont think they detract from the look and they are practicle too.
