but who exactly determines if its getting dull and boring ? we all have different humour levels (some more than others) Whistle

and surely if the thread was dull then no one would reply?

aljo - unfortunately it's up to Martin and the mods.

Agreed we have different humour levels and we're not going to spoil the fun but TBH to see thread after thread go the same way with basically the same jokes emerge can put people off. My view is that let a thread run, try and keep as much of the jokes on a single thread, unfortunately when that thread gets too large it will have to be locked or deleted - server issues, but this might be sorted out in the future. RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE Zambezi silver,Alpaca.

Jay i am not comparing the WA thread to the jokes thread, just using the jokes thread as an example of a thread with a lot of pages, and asking the question, why if there is a problem with long threads dont the mods reduce some of them, not delete them Confused I take your point about the jokes thread and the amount of replies, but given the time it has been running then im not suprised at the amount, if the WA thread had run the same length of time i am sure it would of had just as many posts Rolling Eyes

The WA thread reached abot 370 pages whereas the Jokes thread is about 170 - there will come a time when we might have to delete/lock the joke thread. Personally I think the joke thread is fine because it says what it does on the tin - the WA thread just got messy.

I get the feeling that some people on here are being picked on and having their posts moderated when others are allowed to talk drivel without being moderated.

It seems a bit like, " the old school" are ok but thats it

I have moderated your posts simply because they needed doing so, but I'm not picking on anyone - I will and have moderated many posts by all types of member. Last night I asked you to remove your Avatar simply because it was too big and not only used up bandwidth it also distorted the look of the site. This morning I deleted posts in this thread because I considered they were taking the thread too far off topic as I considered this thread would serve some use in the form of debate. I'm not always right and if I make mistakes I apologise but I do what I do for a reason. RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE Zambezi silver,Alpaca.

VA im not talking about me, so dont get me wrong, and by the way i know that some or most of my avatars are very close to the knuckle, which is why i self moderate to save you the job, i also realise that you will not please all of the people all of the time etc, but it does seem like sometimes the mods remove some peoples posts without any real reason yet leave others that seem outrageous, maybe as you say you do make mistakes, you are afterall only human(so ive been led to believe)

aljo up yours Ner Ner it was a reinforced fence

ENVOY - you will always notice your own threads being removed and less likely to see others. I remove loads of thread/replies but unless you've seen them you wouldn't realise. I also understand that some slip under the wire but Shmoogle & I just don't have the time to read and check everything. RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE Zambezi silver,Alpaca.

VA i understand what you are saying.

But,

how do you justify fun??????

fun having a laugh with person on the forum at the same time?

ribbing a member and them interacting?

posting a funny comment in relation to the thread?

Abusing trust and Taking personal details for fun at another members expense?

granted not everything is funny. some close to the knuckle.

But on the whole members are careful not to over step the mark, not being able to see reactions is a dangerous game.

earlier Cliff/iff was happy to be ribbed in a non offensive way, but posts were deleted????

Envoy has had everything thrown at him on all manners of threads, that's acceptable?????

I did not expect it receive an abusive post towards another member.

You as mods have a thankless job, I appreciate that, I have said it before, but if you are going to draw a line define it.

I interpret your comments to be, if a thread is started, make clear and concise comments regarding that thread, if it dies then that's it. keep your personality out of it ????

So the word association thread was a good buffer for all other comments, very little was said on the other threads or hijacked as you put it.

Tell us how you want the forum to be, no offence meant to anybody. Very Happy

VA i dont always notice mine being removed Embarassed maybe i should take more notice, like you i dont have time to read everything, but what i have noticed is that there are a lot of posts by people that are really close to the knuckle or a load of Censored that are left alone, maybe as you said, you just dont have time, or maybe it is because you look more for certain peoples posts than others Confused

I do like a good debate Whistle
