Monaco 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
front sensors...

Hi guys...

Two weeks ago I finally received my new TDV8 and I'm very happy with it although I managed to do only 430km since I had to leave for the States until Aug. 20th... Big Cry

One question though, the front sensor of my TDV6 went on automatically when driving into a parking space or when closing up to much with the car in front of me, wheareas with the TDV8 it doesn't come on automatically! I first have to go into "R" mode or press the buttom in order to turn it on... Shocked
Is there a way to have it come on automatically after a certain speed like my previous TDV6??

Thanks,

JJ

The front sensors like on your previous TDV6 were giving lots of problems, picking up everything infront and was very annoying. Subsequently there was a program update which made the sensors work exactly like on your TDV8. Somebody (I think it might be the ever reliable umbertob) posted the TSB here before.

Most of us had this fix and are happy with it. Malaysia Boleh!

Ask your dealer where they keep the "box with the old parking aid modules that nobody liked", if they haven't disposed of it yet they may be willing to counter-retrofit one of those on your TDV8, cheap! Laughing

The front PDC on mine often found it had lots of invisible friends... either that or it was just hypersensitive. I'd be sitting at the traffic lights in Guildford when all of a sudden it would detect a bloke crossing the road..... in New York Rolling Eyes

That may not be an option umbertob.
Every ECU on the car has the vehicle VIN number programmed into it.
Most OE peolpe now use a ONE shot ONE time programme only so you can't use it after the first time it has been fitted. It was bought in to cut car crime down. Confused It may work in your country or even in Monaco where he is. It would be nice to know if it did. But here in the UK we are now the car crime capital of Europe. It is sometimes country specific aswell. You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

Yeah, mine was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek comment. Anti-theft measures aside (I didn't know about the VIN programming into each module, by the way) I doubt any authorized LR dealer would risk the liability that comes with mounting a used PDC module on a newer car.

How did anyone ever park their car in the world before PDC sensors ?

Or keep their car on the road before ETC ?

Or stop before ABS ?
