Hi,

Ok everyone, Sport it is, you have convinced me, even though I will miss not being able to put the wheelie bins in the boot to take them up the dirt track to the road. Very Happy

Just means I need a new trailer for the tractor. Laughing

The current hot choice is Range Rover Sport TDV6 in Rimini Red with Alpaca Leather, Ebony Carpets, and Wood Trim.

The goodies I am thinking about are: Sunroof, Phone (PTI), Premium NAV, Premium ICE, Bi Xenon, Cooler Box
Wood, Memo Seats, Tow, 19 inch Alloys.

I know the exact spec is different between the UK (my homeland) and Australia but anyone got any comments on the choices above.

Might look into buying a TDV8 with less toys. Twisted Evil

Also anyone had experience of the Alpaca Leather, re: wearing.

Cheers,

Andrew

Andrew - I think your choice is excellent. I have Alpaca and it takes a hell of a beating but still looks good. If you clean it every 6 months it should be fine and one of the best ways I've found to do this is by using baby wipes, especially the Johnson ones - not sure what brands you have in Australia though. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Hi alowson and welcome
Re your choices.(as an Australian )
My alpaca is only six months old but as VA says, a quick wipe with baby wipes and it's as good as new.
Ebony carpets look cool but are a Censored to keep clean and show every spec of dirt.
I chose 19" for on road as our roads are a nightmare for any small wall height tyre.
I also got 18" rims for off-road as at the time of my purchase you couldn't get any 19" off road tyres and I liked the idea of of taller sidewalls. Since then lots of brands have become available in 19" so I am putting the 18" onto my P38a.
The factory bi-xenon lights are essential (but don't bother with the adaptives ) as the halogens are hopeless.
The factory towbar is a neat solution and very cost effective.
I will option the memory pack next time for no other reason than to get the mirror dip.
I could do without the sunroof.
As for the rest...Nav, PTI, Premium ice, cool box, adaptive pack, window tinting....there are plenty of MUCH cheaper and MUCH more effective after market solutions available in Australia.
I'd put those savings into the V8.

Australia 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 SE Chawton White

Hi Andrew,

Welcome to the forum.

When crunching the numbers between the TDV6 and the TDV8, I found that there wasn't too much of a step up to the TDV8 once I started to add some of the desirable options to the TDV6.

eg. Bi- Xenons, Dynamic pack (brembos, wheels, and Dynamic response).

I need to tow horse boxes and stock crates as well so for me the TDV8 was the natural choice.

Some shopping around also got me the car with the addition of cooler box, sun roof, active rear diff and tow pack and all dealer charges, taxes etc. for a number that was very close to the recommended retail price for the TDV.

As Ivery says, there are aftermarket options for a lot of the other bits you are looking at - and if you go down this path you don't have to pay the crazy Luxury Car Tax on these items as well!!

In terms of the interior colours, I hope that you have made a wise choice, because I have ordered the same Very Happy

regards
WD Just a white TDV8 with a few extras
