Tinted Glass in Oz

Ivery,

I note in your signature that you have "custom metalised tinted glass"

What is it?

Is it any good?

How much?

Where from?

And answers to any other questions I haven't asked about as well Very Happy Just a white TDV8 with a few extras

WD

The product is "solartint' onyx metal (gold vapour I believe) film at 35% and with a lifetime warranty.
On the two fixed rear side windows 35% non metallised so as not to interfere with the aerials.
Some notes:
This product is vastly superior performance (especially with UV )to factory tinting and makes a huge difference on long trips.
The GPS only works with an external antenna or in a limited way if you give it a view of the top of the windscreen.
The auto dip on the rearview mirror ceases to work.......but it is not needed.
You do see the side aerials 'highlighted' but so what.
Cost
about $400-00aud (I don't have the receipt to hand)
There are franchises all over the place........remember SOLARTINT they are by far the best !
Takes about 4 hours to do a RRS and you can't use the windows for a couple of days.
With regard to your other questions.............the answer is...........well maybe....I dunno...... Very Happy

Ivery,

Thanks for the very comprehensive review. I would be very interested in seeing the pictures of the final install.

The others that I was looking at was the tom-tom see:

http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php...&Lid=1

ideally I am looking at a good form factor device that doesn't detract from the vehicle, but also doesn't cost the crazy price that the local dealers charge for the OEM product.

Not too fussed about music or phone integration just yet - I will figure that bit out when my iPhone gets here Just a white TDV8 with a few extras

Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Fuji White

WD, i have the tomtom 710 and it works fine, includes blue tooth phone integration, with text and phone book facilities, very pleased with it. However i have not had it fixed to the wagon, just plug it in as needed. Not seen a fully fixed version, but the unit fits nicely in the cubby hole where the 6K product from LR goes, and simply stores in the centre console when not required.

Thanks
