Exhaust tip diameter on a TDV8?

Hi again!

I am watching you guys buying horrendously expensive tips from Kahn and Overfinch and JE, while just across the pond you can get great fit-all tips for a fraction of the price. Look:

http://www.borla.com/products/polished_tips.aspx

the only question is about stock exhaust tip diameter (and length too). If these tips are the right diameter, they are a much better buy. And this is what they should cost.

Frankly, I can't even imagine paying something like 1000 to 1500 euro for 2 pieces of polished stainless steel piping. My rough estimate of the cost gives me something like... 100 euro a pair? Engineering these is no rocket science either. Quite a margin I must say.

anyways, question is - what is the diameter of the TDV8 exhaust piping?

thanks. Cheers,

Andrei

I think you forget one thing Andrei - most of us would love polished tips too but all diesel RRS's have downward turned ends on the exhausts so polished trims are useless, you have to have a tip that has an exit on the underside of the finisher, unless of course you spend 1,000's on a replacement straight out exhaust system in which case you won't be looking for a tailpipe finisher! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Was it Jay who cut off his tail pipe on the diagonal and turned it around so it came out straight? ... I do remember reading about it last year, guess I better do a search then Confused Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

tim,
That.s right, but cant the tailpipe be cut off some to allow straight tips to be fitted? Cheers,

Andrei

Alicatt,
I've seen these pics. That's exactly what I meant: you cut off half of the tail pipe after the muffler and weld the chrome onto what's left.

Hence my questions abou the diameter of the tailpipe on a TDV8. Subsequent question will be on how long the tailpipe is and how long the tips have to be to look good.

On top of all I like the hst-like rectangle tips over the round ones Cheers,

Andrei

here's another page with exhaust tips

http://www.prostreetonline.com/s/fabrication_muffler-tips.asp

I love the Camaro-style tips, but not sure they will quite compliment the RRS.

the only thing stopping me from buying one of the items is I dont have the car yet so I cant measure the damn diameter... Cheers,

Andrei

Sit tight - someone should be able to answer about the diameter. Search doesn't show anything specific (that I managed to find).
