You forget about that serious crime of eating an apple while driving and having to chase down the culprit with a helicopter

England 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Well, I've only had my car a week. It's a January'07 model and I've been trying to use my Sony Ericcson W880i linked through the BT.

The dealer now tells me that there's no upgrade avaialble so I either have to buy or find an older phone, as the software in the phone is too modern for the car, or maybe install a Parrot system. It would be a shame to do that having such a good looking dash layout as the car does.

At the moment the car answers the phone but won't relay the sound through the system so, having missed loads of calls, I've now had to turn off the BT on my phone till I can sort something out.

Even the voice activated names and numbers seem very hit and miss the the car system regularly can't or won't respond to my commands.

So what do you people do in the real world? Do you buy older phones and, if so, which ones are best - or do you buy a Parrot and avoid the LR system altogether?

Getting pretty annoyed now, so any advice appreciated please......

Try looking on fleabay for an older phone that will work, I have a motorola V3i that works well with my 2008MY car, but most folks seem to find Nokia phones work best with the older versions of the BT system. The simpler the phone the better! Also your 2007 car should have a unit under the centre armrest that has a phone connector/charger you may be able to find a cradle to fit and then all the functions will be available but without the BT. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks for that.

There is a harness unit under the arm rest.

I'll look at some Nokias as you suggest but I might still have the old Motorola V3i somewhere in the office.

Cheers!

This is not limited to this brand... my wife's Lexus suffers from the same... She will be at home and unable to hear the person talking because the sounds gets routed to her car...

Just wanted to share so you guys/gals don't think this is just RR specific... Drive Safe!

Good to know that even a "perfect" car like Lexus has gremlins as well! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I've just spoken to Land Rover about my W880i mobile and it should be compatible, as should quite a few other phones.

There is an update available for mine and its reference is LTB 00095. It is of course chargeable.

Apparently you can check your phone's compatibility on the Land Rover website.

I'm also told that the update only came out last Friday, which is a shame cos my car was in last Wednesday.

Just waiting for the call to book it in for about 45 mins whilst they do the upgrade.

Hopefully, it will be suitable for lots of other more up to date phones.

I don't know if it will solve the problem of the car answering the phone and not allowing me to though. Confused
