Good question - I think it's compatible with all Ipods, although I'm not 100% sure. Someone will be able to confirm.

If the first generation IPOD has a 3.5 mm female jack on it, plug it in via a wire with 2 3.5MM male ends...should be a cheap test to find out. PJPR

thanks for trying. Thumbs Up
i use nano (3rd gen) as well.
it's just that i do have a 1st gen ipod with bat problem that's lying around.
Just thought it'd be nice to be able to use it.
(or to use something that's actually made to fit the dock, if you catch my drift.)
cheers. MY08 TDV8 HSE

I have a ipod photo 30Gb, it doesnt fit....... unless you remove the top clip as it is to thick to get in at an angle. I dont know if that helps.

I found my 1st-gen iPod in a drawer tonight (remember when 10 gigs sounded positively ginormous?) Smile I tried to fit it in the ACM cradle, no way. The base of the cradle is just too slim to receive the thicker body of the original iPod, and the adapter provided only helps with smaller versions (Nano.) The manual for the ACM states that only 5th generation (and up) iPods are supported via cradle, so I suspect you may also run into software related problems if you could somehow manage to fit your old iPod in the docking cradle.

that's exactly what happened.
i found out the hard way, as usual.
i forced-fit it into the cradle but just didn't work. MY08 TDV8 HSE
