Has anyone fitted the chrome mirrors? Need a little advice

Hello there ,

I thought id phurcase the genuine Land rover Chrome covers instead of skimping believing that they'd be of a higher quality and simple to fit... But when they came they had no adhesive whats so ever where as the cheaper copies are ready to stick on when you buy them...

Anyway... Thats nough of me moaning... Has anybody else fitted them and if so what adhesive did you use? On the instructions it just has a picture of what looks like tube of grip fill and the gun

ting you use to squish it out of the tube...
Big Cry

Help me some 1...
Thumbs Up

The adhesive has its own part number at your friendly LR stealer, STC50551... And since it is not included with the mirror caps you purchased, it probably costs a fortune (if you must have the original stuff, google the above part # and you should get several hits of places that sell the tube.) I am sure you could get the same results with a small quantity of cheaper silicone / mastic-type adhesive from your nearby home improvement store.

PS:

It dosen't come in the box. They usually charge extra for the LR stuff with all the instructions in a foreign language just to confuse you. That's why I used the wet grab. TDV6 - gone

Confused
Gulp... Used the Land rover stuff... Had to ring them 6-7 times just to work out how to actually open the damn thing as it was made entirely of aluminum... Then when I finally got into the tube with my jack hammer it was the toughest adhesive i have ever had the misfortune to try and sqeeeeeze out... I finally got the mirrors on and found that the handles on the gun were bent!!! LoL Very Happy

No pain no gain...

Moral of the story... Buy the copys as they have the adhesive sticker stuff and are ready to go...
Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
