Belgium 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

On a Sunday morning you should drive to the center of the village here and you'll see what Snob Appeal is Laughing

Maserati, Porsche, Rolls, so my RRS is looking small next to them. The RRS doesn't even qualify as a Snob car anymore over here.

Somebody told me the other that the RRS was the entry level posh car Laughing 08.5 RRS TDV6 HSE Java Black/Alpaga - Cold Climate Pack - Privacy Glass - Bluetooth - Sunroof - 20" wheels - Rubber Floor mats.

Our cars are already substantially Tata's anyway........................... they are built from rolled steel sheet made by Corus, a company already owned by Tata - the same goes for the Mini - the steel panels for that are pressed at Solihull on the presses that press LR's panels. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Agreed umbertob. There is an awful lot of ill-informed xenophobic nonsense on that thread. inevitably, but glad to see that you, and particularly our Tasmanian friend HSE2, are redressing the balance.

The pro-Ford lobby is quite frankly preposterous. To my generation a Ford was and is just a cheap banger for the working man who might aspire to a rep-mobile Cortina/Mondeo if he was lucky. Big Fords were and are just vulgar, garish jokes.

Nonetheless, from a marketing standpoint, even in this global age, a luxury car with German ownership is still vastly more palatable to many than one with Indian! Time will tell. Perhaps luxury SUV's will become a complete anachronism and Tata will make thousands of Defenders (in India!) for the World's largest purchaser of 4x4's, coincidentally the Indian Army.

Yes, and even then BMW only swapped the engines and did not interfere with the rest! Laughing

Now, everytime I want to use the Bluetooth feature, I need to pair my phone to "FORD"! Big Cry

I like this bit...........................................

Quote:
Ratan Tata, chairman of the Tata Group, recently was quoted stating that a hands-off approach works best with any iconic brand. The not-so-hidden meaning behind these comments implies that Jaguars and Land Rovers will remain quintessentially British. So Tata appears to understand it wouldn't be a good idea to manufacture any $2,500 Jaguars, or have a Land Rover sport-utility to roll off the same production lines that piece together Tata’s working-class range of cars. Cost savings for both luxury nameplates is likely to be more hidden, and could be done via parts production in India, while final assembly remains in Britain.
Sounds like good sense to me

Why is Jag / LR the hot potato of car manufacturers....?

Anyway guys, no need to concern yourself about TATA, take a look at the quality vehicles that another Indian manufacturer, Hindustan Motors, produces......still

You used to be able to buy the Ambassador here until last year....................... the folks that imported it were the same company as remanufactures Moggy Minors and now even builds complete new ones out in Sri Lanka.

One thing for sure - if Tata can make the Defender in it's present form more cheaply in India and import it to the UK at Indian market prices then I can see a very long life ahead of the current version Mr. Green Mr. Green 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
