Random 'faults'

I have noted a couple of random events recently, i thought they would be 'one off's' and unable to reproduce. I had a second occurance of one of them yesterday,

1. Driving along, wipers would not function at all (front) on any setting, stopped in traffic, powered down, up - still the same. Powered down, locked and unlocked, wipers back on ONLY after selecting the immediate wipe (down) on the command stick.

2. Keys in the ignition, you wind the keys forward but no response (as if car is in drive) - ignition lights come on. Try again and it fires.... This I have repeated,

anyone had / seen similar?

Confused

I need to establish a confirmed fault if you like before reporting direct to James (who I know will get it sorted !)

You are correct MAW, From my experience at the local dealer today unless a fault is logged in the computer for them to download they look at you as if the fault can't have happened!

I had this at the beginning with my TDV6, usually happened at the 2nd or 3rd start of the day. No fault found.
I got used to try to turn the key and wait for the car to go through the initial check then start. Don't know if it helped but never happened again for over a year. '08 RRS TDV8

Thanks all - the ignition bug is as if the car doesn't recognise the key - like I imagine an imobilser would work...

Will continue to track Confused

Sounds like it could be transponder related Question I had this before due to a flat spare key, however the car I tried to start was open, and I would guess that you unlocked yours so this will probably not be the case.

Keep me posted, we will not be beaten, however sometimes 'needle and haystack' springs to mind when the vehicle hasn't stored a fault.

Thumbs Up Smile

I know you'll address James and I was only posting here to share the info and solicit feedback should it enable me to better report the problems.

I know it is like a PC on wheels and Bill Gates always gets the blame for the spurious unrepeatable faults !!
