Canada 2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Zambezi Silver
A novel place to put driving lights

I recently bought an HST grill and a genuine pair of RRS driving lights. The grill went in perfectly and looks good I think. But I held up the driving lights on the bumper, thought they looked ugly, and could not commit to cutting the holes for them.
.
So I got another pair of driving lights, small but powerful, and mounted them BEHIND the grill. I wired them up with a relay which puts them on whenever high beam is on - so no messing about with switches on the fascia. (Details on request.)

.
Do they actually work? Well, yes, but the exisitng LRS xenon lights are so fantastic they kinda mask the effect of the new lights! Still there is an improvement and driving on country roads the array of lights makes night seem like day.
.
I now have a set of genuine unused RRS driving lights for sale! Also the original RRS supercharged grill. Decent offers considered:

That's actually a good solution for lights with the HST grill. Thumbs Up 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

That looks good, I was thinking about doing something similar, but I have the original grill and planning to keep it, so have to look for a slightly different set up. '08 RRS TDV8

They have!

I spotted a black S/C heading East on the M27 last year, going like the proverbial with alternating blue lights behind the grill.

I had just dropped my daughter off at her university hall on Southsea seafront - she had seen it heading South past her, heading for the seafront itself.....my only thought is that the hovercraft terminal for the Isle of White is there so if 4 "Hereford guys" needed to get over to the IoW in a response (practice or otherwise) to the prison there, that is the fastest way.... Shocked Cheers

There was a paramedic who was on this site in the early days - he had the blue lights behind his grill. I think he only kept the RRS for a short time because of MPG on the SC! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Believe it or not I purchased them from Wall Mart for $60! They give a very bright white light. I got them just to try out the idea, intending to replace them with bigger ones if they worked. I really wanted spotlights but these spread horizontally only and give good additional illumination when aimed to hit the road about 50 ft away. I will keep them as they are since I am happy with how they work.

My experience with police lights: I am driving at night along a straight road and this idot coming towards me seems to have his high beams on. So just to let him know I flash my high beams at him. Twice or maybe three times, but he takes no notice. The car passes me and does a u-turn, and on come the red and blue roof lights!
He checks my licence and insurance then tears a strip off me, quoting how illegal it is to use my high beams that way. I got pi***d off and told him that if they were his low beams, his car was unfit for the road, and that I would follow it up at the main police station. We parted less than amicably but without his issuing me a ticket.
It may well be illegal here in Canada to have lights behind the grill, so you can be sure I won't be flashing anyone in simialr circumstances. .
