Best way to clean metal of side steps?

Not the black plastic, I mean the metal rim. Mine seems to have water marks where rain water has run off. I'd like to clean it up.

Chrome cleaner too abrasive?
What do you chaps think....?

Hello Paulo,

I use autosol chrome cleaner (in a tube) or liquid silver polish (silvo or similar).

The discolouration seems worse behind the front wheels so it saves time to hit it with tar remover first IMHO.

Autosol brings it up a treat.
