Got me Parrot in the car!

Car is back from the dealers' electrician and now has the Parrot CK3100 Hands free kit. It isn't sited on the dash in an exactly attractive position - I will be working on the bit myself with a small relocation and some velcro but works brilliantly, picks up my V3i within seconds of getting into the car and can support up to 5 mobiles at once if necessary (so far we have had 4 phones all paired to it at once). I now have to spend the evening talking to the voice activation to get that lined up too. It's quite a sophisticated piece of kit and will give caller display, reads the mobile phone phone book and displays the data on its screen, mutes the ICE when you make or receive a call, displays the callers name on incoming calls and will work with any B/T equipped cellphone. Total cost incl fitting and a free gift magic tree type car air freshener from the dealer was £285. Sound reproduction of the phone is crystal clear and the microphone is nicely integrated into the A pillar. And I you are buying an SE or S without the PTi it is cheaper than having the LR system and it's problems as a factory fit extra.
Will post some pics later.

Now all I need is a piece of newspaper, a cuttle bone and a bowl of Trill an my parrot will be truly happy! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Got the Parrot in my RRS too. Nice piece of kit it seems.
Only problem with my Nokia N80 is that it does not read the phonebook from the phone, I had to transfer the contacts manually.

I have had the 3100 in my van for over a year now and it has always been excellent.

Yours sounds a bit expensive though Tim.
Mine was £150 fitted by local expert.
The 3100 is about £80 to buy plus on the RRS it will need another wiring harness around £20

Not sure about 3100 but a Phone guy we use wont fit parrots to sports because the wiring kit parrot supply does not connect & you need to take the centre colum out (from gearbox back) to get into the rear of stereo . He will fit them to Flanders & sports

The dealer did it "in house" as they have experience of doing them on D3's and Freelanders but this was the 1st RRS they had done - Salesman I'm relieved by your comments about the complex nature of the Sports centre consol, it explains why I was basically charged for 1.5 - 2 hours of labour if it is that complex. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yup I'm very pleased with mine although the location it was put in isn't that nice, the techy installing it screwed the mounting foot into the dash cubby (and through the rubber mat so now I cannot remove the mat!) where HSE's have the satnav screen. I would have preferred it to have been fitted flush on the dash with some velcro or double sided sticky pads (as shown in the installation instructions) 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
