Hi all,

My L320 2012 range rover sport with (1 piece electric soft close tail gate) is having issues.

The soft close / latch is closing once you hit the tail gate close button on the tail gate. But 2 seconds after it latches shut. It makes a sound and then releases the latch again.

So the tail gate is not shut when driving (have to tie it shut) and I obviously can’t lock any of the other doors on the car anymore.

Also when you hit the tail gate open button on the key or dash board button the car or the rear button on the tailgate above the number plate. The latch makes an awful rat-tat-tat sound. And doesn’t release the latch (but as its not latched shut, I guess that doesn’t matter).

I’ve taken all the panels off and found the part numbers:

The latch is:

I just can’t figure out which one to order, my gut is saying it’s the latch, because of the noise it makes when you hit boot open. but i know which ever one i go for it will be the other. Or i could end up buying both and knowing my luck it won’t be either that’s causing the issue. If anyone has experienced this before, even if it was with a newer RRS please do let me know and if you know of any good suppliers that can deliver fast, please put a link.

I did find a you tube video of a newer RRS with a rear soft close door that failed to pull its self shut and that was the actuator.

I’ll let you know if either part fixes the issue.

Thanks for replying when you say door lock? Do you mean one of the doors as in front doors or rear doors or do you mean the tailgate lock / latch?

I ended ordering a new latch and it's just arrived, soon as i can get a away from my desk, i will go and try and fit. Will let you know how i get on, really hoping its this latch now, because the car hasn't been able to lock it self, it must be keeping it from sleeping for the last few days which has now drained the battery.
