Nine Months Update

10 years ago I sold a MY13 RRS Black Edition and tried a Disco Sport before throwing my toys out of the pram and left the JLR brand I thought for ever after 16 years 😳

9 months ago I returned nervously after owning a faultless Outlander & Countryman that earned me the “Milk Float Man” title then an absolutely garbage CX60 (All PHEVs) 🤦‍♂️

I’d also owned 2 Mohos, an Rc300h, 500c then Fiesta too during this period so it’s been a big change 🤣

I can honestly say the P460e has put a smile back on my face again like all the Freelanders, Discos and RRSs did before so I’m hoping it continues 🤞

Only issue I’ve had were 2 door seals badly fitted that should have been picked up by QC but now sorted 😁

I usually charge to 80% following LRs guidance and in winter this gave 40 miles range which is rising to 45 with milder weather again - 100% in cold weather is about 50 but last weekend managed 67 miles on a 242 mile run - hard to tell when it’s in petrol or EV it’s so smooth Mr. Green

Hiya Muddywheels

Just out of interest where on the doors were the badly fitting seals ?? My front doors seem a little noisy at high speed. (Not the quarterlight windows. They seem fine)

Weekend I had a dad taxi run to Manchester airport- 242 miles which is rare for me without the wobble box and I loved it - 67 miles EV and 40% of the petrol tank which I need to brim to check mpg - the petrol in the tank has been there since October so needed used Rolling with laughter Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Glad to hear you're enjoying LR ownership again. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

Hi Muddy,

Its been a long time. So much has happened in life since you last had an RRS. I retired, then came out of retirement, spent some time single after my ex left and I now own a European vehicle service and repair workshop here in Perth, Australia where we look after quite a few Rangies for customers.

Like you, I had a rest from JLR for around 4 years between 2018 and 2022 but then saw a very low mile L320 V8 which I bought. It has been fantastic after 3 years of ownership and 30k miles. It's my partner's car these days and she loves it. We regularly drive it on long road trips. Since we look after all of our own maintenance, all our cars are serviced every 6 months or 6000 miles.

I rented a P460PHEV in the UK last year when I visited and liked it. When I returned, I bought a demo 2023 P400 MHEV. One thing I like about it is the air conditioning and seat heater controls are knobs and buttons, one thing I didn't like about the P460 was having to continuously explore the giant iPad thing to make even the smallest change to any setting.

After 9 months of ownership, the P400 has been faultless but somehow characterless. Its fast but needs to rev. The gearbox is sometimes not quite sure what gear it wants to be in. Take off from lights etc is all or nothing (you won't have that problem with the PHEV as its a smooth take off). The steering is weighted when turning, it feels kind of spring loaded. All in all, the driving experience is somewhat digital and not engaging. When I drive the V8 L320 its just a nicer, more analogue and fluid experience.

I am not sure what to do, I like my cars to be fun to drive, my M340i is great are my new i30N 6 speed manual and my Mustang GT convertible. I am leaning towards selling the P400 and buying something I will enjoy driving, maybe an L494 V8 SC or SVR or maybe even a used X5 50i (my M340i x drive has taught me that I like the BMW level of tech, just enough, not too much).

Wow BKHK another blast from the past Bow down

Sounds like you’ve been through some stuff Shocked

I’m still over the moon with the P460e and missed the dials initially but once I realised saying “Hey Land Rover” followed by whatever temperature or function I want it does it I realised dials are so yesterday Laughing

The downside is whenever I see a LR and talk about it or mention LR the Censored thing asks “How can I help” Rolling with laughter

It spends so much time EV I rarely use the 3.0 i6 unless I’m towing or occasionally take a long distance trip - when I do it’s so quiet and smooth I don’t know if it’s EV or ICE Mr. Green

Good luck with your business venture Thumbs Up
