2. When parking I put it in park and apply the handbrake. Should I also put it in reverse or D?

As far as I know, there's only the one reverse gear.

Put the "handbrake" on first and let it sit against that before putting it in park. Otherwise you risk the weight of the vehicle against the park pawl which isn't ideal.

Thanks guys. On my old Disco 3 (manual) I used low ratio reverse but the RRS has no low ratio. Thanks for the tip about handbrake first, then Park. Will try to remember! |

Through the 80s 90s I worked for a company installing car audio, security, cruise control and anything else but the workshop was quite small so manoeuvring autos required covering and sometimes controlling with the foot brake. So this is how I drive an auto now with both feet, sometimes throws an error saying accelerator and brake operated at the same time……no s**t! Steve

Have found in the event of an emergency you stop very quickly with both feet on the pedal. Steve

How about selecting Grass Gravel Snow before reversing out. This tends to give a gradual release of power which should be easier to control Robin
