New Here, and deciding what to do

Hi All

I have come over from Defender 2 forum and LR4x4

I am by no means new to Land Rover as have had defenders and discoveries for years and rebuild them chassis up etc.

But I am very new to RRS. I have just picked up a 13 plate 3.0V6 RRS L320 with a suspected blown engine. I have picked it up as a friend was getting rid of it and my initial idea was to break it for parts.
Before I do I want to try and diagnose what is wrong with it so will try and see if crank has snapped.
Car is showing gearbox fault but I think that might be because the emergency pull under the cup holders has been pulled to release the handbrake and get gearbox into Neutral. Does anyone know if this would be the case?

I doubt what ever has gone wrong is an easy fix and car is on 150K so even fixed is worth very little.

I am keeping battery charged up to minimise electric things popping up.
Any advice or ideas welcome. Or if anyone has stripped one before what is best to leave until last.
I will probably try and get the gearbox out for a future M57 build. The rest would be sold off

Thanks

Jon

look at the end of the crank, where the belt is.

if there is float on this. (moves in and out), crank gone

Also try turning over by hand

Thanks, I will do. The Land Rover garage it was at said it was terminal but hadnt investigated far, but I guess if they had seen that then that’s the conclusion they came to pretty quickly without spending the customers money any further.
Thanks
