United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Arctic Frost
2017 sport 3.0 sdv6

I have been away from landrover for 5 years now, but have been looking today to get another. My last one was a 2005 sport 2.7 TDV6. Today i have been looking at a very nice 2017 autobiography 3.0 SDV6, with 47000 miles on the clock.
What is the reliability of these like?
Does the body still have to come off to do turbos ect?
In general what do you think about this model?
Thanks all 55 plate

I’m still learning about these myself but I can answer a few questions.
There is no separate chassis with the L494 so no, no body off.
I think they’re pretty reliable but the SDV6 has a few concerns around the bottom end. But good maintenance should reduce the risk. Other than that, same regime as the 2.7 really. 2021 L494 D300MHEV Autobiography

My wife has had a 2015 SDV6 for nearly 4 years and it's been great, apart from a sticking throttle body butterfly flap which triggers a false full DPF warning, very easy fix, then a DPF sensor, once again an easy fix.
I also cleaned the suspension air pump silencer last week as the access height stopped working, that was really easy to fix too.

I bought an Aston Vanquish the same day as she got the RRS and after driving the RRS a few times, I realised that I should have bought an SVR. Maybe one day! A Cheshire expat in France.

Thank you for your input.
I did get an insurance quote, for me 35 years no claim ect £2367.00 was the cheapest
Likewise on a discovery 5 with the same engine $1846.00
So i am going to have to think about it. I also got a quote fitting a ghost anti theft and tracker. It increased both prices by £300. 55 plate

That's crazy!
I bought mine a month ago. Before I started, I rang my insurer to check I wasn't going to find the premiums unmanageable.
Last year, the comparison sites were quoting me £1500.
I'm on an Admiral multicar policy with 4 other family cars which helps, but I'm paying pro-rata for the year (was 3 months in) £900 which I consider to be very reasonable, albeit a jump from £220 for my old Jag.
LR insurance used to be crazy but no longer afaik. They're now no more likely to be stolen than anything else.
As for an increase for additional security - that tells me they're wasting your time.
To be fair, I told Admiral I was fitting a ghost and they didn't care. They also didn't care when I said there'd be no tracker as I didn't intend to renew it.
Did you ring round or are you living in a car theft hotspot? 2021 L494 D300MHEV Autobiography

We are not in a particularly high theft area, but we do get a lot of boy racers in BMW's speeding and having accidents unfortunately. I have just run the car i liked through the comparison sites again, with the same results. But a full fat 4.4 is £350 cheaper. I have a 22 plate Renault Arkana R.S at the moment and i just paid £720 for that.
The problem is my wife can no longer get in the Renault, she needs something a little taller, and the Sport fits the bill. So i may just have to bite the bullet and pay it. She is in hospital at the moment needing an op on her spine, so will have to sort it when she gets out.
Thanks for all the input guys much appreciated. 55 plate

Hi,

Try LR insurance.

SWMBO has her Defender D250 with them.

Pay monthly, rolling contract and the cheapest we could find.
