2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

What is this thingy?

So I was working under the front of the car - replacing the front hight sensors.

Sweeping the garage I found this.
Does anyone know what it is?

Most people will know there are many parts that are not metal and therefore don't rust.

looks like a protective cap of some sorts.
