Well, I joined a company that the previous "investor" had not, well, invested anything and the new investor wanted to renew the fleet of around 500 or so vehicles. I call all in all the manufacturers to offer them a chance to supply us with the vehicles.

The motor industry throws money and vehicles at you in order to obtain your business. Them loaning you cars for extended periods is a cheap option, "working" weekends in some of the worlds best hotels are another preferred option too. Trips on private yachts, tickets for international sport, wine, racing days out BUT absolutely no back-handers at all (which is a good thing).

One thing I did learn from it all was that firstly, small-private jets are a nightmare if you do not like flying. Avoid V.I.P sporting events facilities...........it is far better to go to the "cabbage patch" at Twickers before the game. Finally, make sure you know the neighbours know what you do for a living or they will think that you are showing off with all "your" cars that get parked on the drive.

Finally, it is true about having certain cars that attract certain women...........my wife actually told one car admiring young lady "Thank you, that is my husband in that Porsche"

I'd happily do that job for a different car each weekend.... as long as I wasn't getting a Focus one week and a Mondeo the next

It was a great job but there are bad parts too!!

Ford ran out of steel wheels and sent one of our user-need cars with a set of alloys on it. I had so many calls from people that had the same car entitlement complaining that he had only been with the company for 2 years so why was he entitled to alloys etc etc etc. I was called by two directors about it, various departmental managers just because he had a set of alloys instead of steel wheels with a standard trim!!!

People fiddling their fuel, people selling fuel to taxi drivers, dealing with a fatal accident, refusing to give a company car to a bloke with a DR10, reckless and dangerous driving convictions...........and then asked "why" by his director.

After having driven so many cars, the novelty wears off and the cars do not make up for the daily poo that you have to put up with. Jacking it in was the best decision I made

I suppose for every apparently great job there are crap parts.

Look at VA for example. You get paid for going to parties and having your photo taken with Keira Knightly but during the day you have to put up with being VA. I feel sorry for him really....

1998 1st August Brand New S Reg MY99 Subaru Impreza UK 2.0 Turbo (one of the originals before the chavs got hold of them 5 years later, only 400 per annum in the country being imported at the time)) my first affair with a scoobydoo, very quick, running in at >4000 revs equalled 110 on the M1 heading south from sheffield on its first day out of the garage
