Shaking headlights

Just picked up my RRS this week and made some 2000km on it. I couldn’t be happier or more satisfied overall. It’s an amazing car and I’m completely delighted.

But, of course… in 2000km, there are quite a few small details and issues you start do notice. I’m not going to ask about all of them right away, for the moment I’m particularly curious to know if your headlights shake at high velocity?

I mean… I start to notice on road signs reflection, that the headlight shakes a lot, specifically at higher speeds (more then 150kph). I don’t feel any particular vibration either on the steering wheel or the car it self, apart from normal road irregularities, so apparently it’s not a steering problem.

Considering that I’ve adaptive headlights is this normal?

Another detail… shouldn’t the rear lights also be on with the “follow me home”?

Thanks

shaking is normal if you have Adaptive Headlights and it would be nice to have the rear lights come on with the 'follow me home' setting, but alas they dont Sad nice idea though

Sorry chaps I dont quite understand what "follow me home" is? I'm assuming its when you switch off the ignition and if you've had the lights on they stay on for a certain period of time?

And why should adaptive headlights shake?

follow me home is exactly as you described - a kind of courtesy light

in case of the adaptive headlights shaking, I'm not sure the technical reason, however I guess its something to do with the fact they are not fixed

Maybe they aren't shaking, maybe they are trying to adapt Whistle

Surely the whole idea of adaptive headlights is that they self adapt or self level continuously. So what everyone thinks is a shake, is actually the lights working perfectly as designed. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Actually, the adaptive headlights do vibrate quite a bit at times on rough or bumpy roads, and not only because they are supposed to do so in my opinion... I don't much notice the vibration - never really did - but because the beam cutoff is so sharp with xenons, the shaking can be quite noticeable and some people here in the US (where AH is standard issue on every Sport) are really bothered by it. Some went as far as saying that to opposing traffic their expensive Sports must look like riced up Honda Civics cum fake HIDs. Laughing

I have programmed my third remote button to turn on headlights and reverse lights. But I agree it would be nice if those turned on automatically with the follow me home feature.

I suppose they do shake because of the adaptive feature, as they are not completely fixed to the car. I have other cars with xenon, that also auto level, but they don’t shake at all.
It is, for me at least, kind of annoying… specially when the cutoff beam makes the road signs flickering at me. I’ll talk with my dealer to see if there is anything that can be improved to halve the shaking.

Envoy, regarding the tail lights, as Kaine said, some times you park your car and need to go around the back in dark places… You can now ask me what am I doing going around dark places… Razz Whistle
Besides this is pretty normal feature with other car makers.

Umbertob, do you program the reverse lights to come on at the same time the front ones? Or is just each at a time

I'm afraid you can only program that button one way: One push, headlights on, two pushes, headlights and reverse lights on, three pushes, lights out.
