navigation system design / modification or upgrade possible?

Just had a new TDV8 for a test drive for
about three days. Nice car! Very Happy

But I was really shocked how ugly the design
of the navigation system was. It almost
looked like a Microsoft Windows-Version
from the early 90s. In my opinion it is
not stylish and precious at all. Confused

So, do you know, if there`s an "update"
or so to modify the navigation system
design to be more contemporary and timely.

Christian I will get my RRS SC 5.0 approximately in nov 2013.

What you see is what you get, I'm afraid. If you don't like it, blame Jaguar; it's their system! Very Happy

I actually don't think it's that bad... the BMW system looks nicer but then it doesn't have the touchscreen capability. And it's missing full postcode entry too which I think is a ridiculous omission Mad

Alright, picky! Wink What I should have said was "it's the system used by Jaguar".

So what you both say, is that I will
have to live with that oldschool-solution? Shocked

Have you ever seen the latest version of
the BMW Nav in comparison to the actual RR one?
Itīs like the difference between the internet of 1995 and 2007.
Cannot believe that there is no chance to upgrade the
Jaguar/Alpine system... Crying or Very sad

If it is from Alpine I consider it to modifyable,
since their systems are very often used.

Please don`t misunderstand me. I am not trying
to make LR-bashing. Ok, maybe it ends more
in an Alpine-bashing. Whistle Laughing I will get my RRS SC 5.0 approximately in nov 2013.

Yes, what you see is what you need to live with.

I suppose it's all subjective but the LR system is really not as bad as all that. I currently drive a 535d with SatNav having recently moved on from my RRS so have lots of experience of both systems.... the BMW system looks nicer, but I have to say it's not so easy to use.

Once you get used to using it, I'm sure you'll get used to it Very Happy

Hey shmoogle. Thanks for the solace. It starts to take
effect, so that I am now really excited of getting the
experience to get used to something I dislike until
I will like it. Smile I will get my RRS SC 5.0 approximately in nov 2013.

well...

All I can say is that RRS nav. is far better than mercedes "push the button" or beamer navi button. Touch screen is so easy to use and if you do not like the artistic view...that's another story.

I was actually amazed how well it works.

Cablos
