Air bag light staying on

Hi, I got a new battery fitted yesterday from the AA and now the airbag light won’t go off. I didn’t use the car yesterday after it was fitted and moved the car this morning to get my van out and that’s when I noticed it staying on. I’ve just been out to car again tonight and it’s still on . Will it go out when I drive it? Obviously I’ll be contacting the AA if it doesn’t go out.

Take the car for a short drive & see if it resets.

If not it may have to have the fault codes read & reset. 2006 RRS 2.7 HSE.

I’ll take the car out tomorrow after work and see if it goes out. I spoke to the AA man who changed the battery and he said the same , take it out and see if it disappears and to let him know the outcome. He did say he will come back out and reset the air bag light if need be. Thanks for the reply

I’ve been out today for a short drive. The air bag light come on after a couple of minutes. I drove another couple of miles with it on the pulled over , turned engine off then back on again and it has not come back on. Hopefully it’s sorted itself out….

Battery change provokes a lot of temporary errors that then stay in the memory.
Better get all these faults deleted. SW

Just another thought - when I had a Vogue (L322) the airbag light had a habit of coming on and it was an issue with the expolsive battery terminal which was part of the airbag cystem - the yellow connectors seemed to get corroded & malfuction - don't know if the RRS has one though. 2006 RRS 2.7 HSE.

Mine comes in intermittently when the drivers seat is moved!
Quick fix is to turn off the ignition move the seat all the way forwards and then use memory button to return to correct position and then start engine. Usually fixes the issue until the next time it’s in for a service. 2014 RRS AB Santorini Black

Possibilities also include: loose connection somewhere, or clock spring in the steering wheel. Barrie.

In extreme cases to get an MOT( classic Jags) run a couple of wires to the back of the bulb and use a 10 second timer from ebay to short out the bulb Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

Update on this, the air bag light has not come back on so I can only assume it was due to the battery change and now has sorted itself out. I think the battery may have been on its way out for a while now. The stop start system has started working again (not a good thing) and I’ve been having problems with the soft close doors and got some bits replaced under warranty and to be fair was still a bit hit and miss every now and again but now all working as they should so I’m wondering if the original issue with the soft close doors was battery related more than components. You would think a garage would check the battery condition as their first port of call for any electrical issues s in a car like these. Anyway all good now.

I've been driving around for the last 3 weeks with the airbag light on my 2017 AB, and just came across this tip, which actually worked for me! Thanks Mike
