At the risk of tempting fate, my current 149k miles SDV6 is on its original starter motor and my previous TDV8 was on its original when I sold it at 175k miles. Both were bought as second hand at c.50k miles so I assume both were original. The TDV8 needed a new alternator at c.60k miles. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I suspect in the UK the average journey might be 20 miles or less but america a lot more (??). So 100k miles would be 500 starts in UK so perhaps 1000 starts would be its life.

The starter seems to be up to the job, basically, unlike some of the alternators which seemed to be consumable items at one point. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
