Fuel Burning Heater Question

Eh up all,

Can anyone confirm my understanding of the FBH on my car, I had one on the X5 so understand how they work, However on my RRS I want to check my understanding after reading info on here Confused

My car is a2012 SDV6 - it definitely has a FBH
The FBH should automatically come on below 5 degrees on start up of the car ( not been below 5 degrees so have not had opportunity to test this I know what to look for / listen for)
There is no timer on my infomat screen nor is it in the Extra Features menu - on 2012 MY i understand I need a dealer / Indy to program this in .
Is there a simple way to test the FBH at all ? Confused

Not bothered about a remote key although would be nice but first want to check what I have actually works.

As always all help gratefully received.

Hi,

there is plenty of reading on this over on D3, it has its own section,

You can download the WTT software for free from Martins site here (or on D3) you can also buy a lead
or make your own to connect to the FBH directly and then run/diagnose the FBH from your laptop
you can also ISTR start the FBH with an Iid tool.

you mention the 5 degrees but there are other parameters as well, battery has to be good and fuel tank level (think it is 1 above 1/4 tank.

you can fool the temp sensor as well to make it start try a search think its in the front grill Question

If your up to changing your CCF files you may be able to enable your timed climate with an IId it depends what model you have Confused

this pick was on our 2005 RRS but same idea.

Thumbs Up

Eh up riverblanche

Thanks for this, I’d read a wee bit on the test rig set up used - just better with spanner’s than owt electronic so not overly confident in trying this out Shocked

It’s got all the potential for me to f**k it right up Confused

I’ve no code reader - thought more than once about LR11 or GapID - just not sure I could fathom it out Rolling with laughter

Read about the other parameters too so confident that the car has all these correct, might try and fool it by using the temp sensor though which is a good shout - will research that option.

I’m not giving up on this want to try and bottom it out somehow

Cheers again - all advice welcome
