Fuel filler

So my RRS is booked in for boot alignment, wind noise around A pillar and fuel flap fitting. Additonally I have noticed that the fuel flap doesn’t lock with the central locking. Dealership said a chip issues. Anyone else noticed this? Should lock but doesn’t.

Filler Cap

Is this seriously the case that a Range rover does not have locking filler cap ? I was so disbelieving that I went and tries it on a P440 in our local dealer and kt appears the fuel and electric covers are both not locking. Surely its not possible that we are being sold cars up to and in excess of £100k without locking covers and no official communication ?

Is this right ?. If so surely vandals would have those snapped within seconds right ?

Anyone got the official line ?

Shame you didn’t take them out to the car park and show them .
It could be that you have to double lock the car to lock these — like the New Defender .
Let’s hope for further news from present owners on this site .
Come on guys let’s be hearing from you .

Mine is locked when the car is locked or unlocked if you want to fill up the fuel you need to press the unlock button under the dash to open it.

The fuel cap is not aligned to my standard but that's a minor niggle.

I also started a post re wind noise.

Hi GJW1. Is yours a recent one or an early release ? Literally none of the ones on the forecourt I checked were locked flaps.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

It doesn't have to be lockable - it has to be secure in terms of not letting gases out. The key bit is so that they can check the seal, not to show that it can be locked. Thumbs Up

Me? I'd be refusing to accept a £100k with no locking fuel filling mechanism. If they want to sell it, they could just add a lockable cap. Not ideal but better than a totally unsecured filler. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Mine does lock and you can only open it by pressing the button under the dash when you do this you get a message on the display to say its unlocked.

Once you open it and close it again it will lock automatically after a couple of seconds even if the car is unlocked then the dash message goes away and the open way to open it again is press the button.

Its one of the many problems mine doesn't have but im sure it can be fixed Big Cry

Hi,

I’ve just checked my new (24 MY) D300 AB.

With the vehicle both single and double locked, the filler flap is LOCKED.

You can hear an actuator working around the filler area during the lock/unlock process.
