Solar Battery Trickle Chargers

Just been reading up on these on the forum and in reviews. Will be looking to connect via the OBD2 port to save running cables all over the place. Interested in the Halfords and AA models. Halfords mono crystalline are supposedly more efficient, cheaper with current discounts and vouchers but have what looks like simple metal frames and size unknown. AA TFT models less efficient, huge but car friendly frames.

Anyone used any of these, or know the physical size of the halfords models? Will be in the windscreen facing almost due SSE to hopefully keep battery topped up a bit with my short infrequent journeys. Just visiting, Chris

I can’t help on this charger but I do short trips as well, I put an optimate charger on once a week or every other for a day and that seems to keep the battery happy.

Thanks guys
I ordered an AA 4.8W on Thursday because I didn't like the angular metal frames on the Halfords ones. Will play with it on my old battery on the upcoming sunny days and see what it can do. Just visiting, Chris

I have used the AA charger through the OBD port many times when I leave the car at an airport, never had a problem even when left for nearly 3 weeks
